TK testing the new O'neill Psychofreak wettie in the shade

Big Congrats to Tom Kibblewhite who has taken a WELL deserved win in the Bede Parker Memorial Comp over the weekend in the Hawkes Bay.  Here’s a quick email from him.

Over the long weekend, Hannah and I made our way down to the Hawkes Bay for the Bede Parker Memorial Contest.  It was the 10th annual event and was held at Waimarama on the Sunday.

Stoked! Beers and shukas all round!

Given the length of time this event has been running for, it has become quite a prestigious event – there was a stacked draw of 48 competitors.

Sunday was a pretty miserable day, with 2-4ft onshore waves and squally showers passing through (not to mention the freezing water!). I surfed my way through the earlier rounds but hit a bit of trouble in my quarter final when I broke favourite board doing a re-entry.  Luckily it was early on in the heat and I was able to swap boards with Hannah as unfortunately I didn’t have a back up board of my own with me.

Messy conditions clean cutback.

Somehow I managed to make it through that heat as well as the semi-final.  I came up against Ant McColl, Kelly Ryan and Michael Burling in the final and came through with a win!  Absolutely stoked.

While Tom was away we asked him to Demo the New Oneill Psycho freak wettie in 3.5/2.5.  This wetsuit is amazing I tried the other day at Daniels, and Tom backs that up.  Here’s what he had to say…

PSYCHO 2 Vs PSYCHO FREAK.

When comparing the two suits I found that they are both extremely warm but the new Oneill psycho freak is a far more superior suit. It seals better and therefore lets less water through it and you can surf for about two more hours with ease. The new suit does not inhibit your movement or performance at all. It is the perfect suit for the middle of winter if you hate the cold as much as me.

If you don’t feel the cold so much then there is still nothing wrong with the good old psycho two which just about every one is wearing these days.

If you want to be extra toasty this winter I suggest you try the new psycho freak today.
